Proper Setup of Business Hours

Prevent screen burn-in while maximizing viewership…

Benefits of Night Mode

If you have ever seen the Night Mode symbol bouncing around your screen, you may have wondered what it is. It's the StrandVision player night mode that is specially designed to reduce screen burn-in. The system ensures that each pixel of the screen is flexed during the off-hours to gradually eliminate any burn-in that may result from the showing of your digital signage, especially signage that includes a lot of repetitive templates. If you are breaking in a new screen, see "The First Week of a New Screen" below.

What Business Hours Should I Set Up

If you run a Basic, reseller or a trial version package, your signage will stop once your account has reached the playback time limit. The "How to Set Business Hours" section below lets you adjust your viewing times to keep it playing.

If you have purchased a Streaming video or higher package, you can set your business hours to 24 x 7 playback (midnight to midnight for all seven days of the week) with no license issues, but screen burn-in could still be a problem.

To keep images from burning in on your screen you should consider setting the system go into night mode for at least two hours per day.

How to Set Business Hours

Each StrandVision Digital Signage account is configured separately for the business hours. To change it:

  • Log into your account
  • Click on the "Your Account" tab, select "Your Company", and then select "Hours" on the left side menu.
  • If you have more than one screen on your account, select the one that you want to configure on the location drop down menu at the top of the screen.
  • Verify that the time zone is correct
  • Individually set the hours for each day and check the days that the playback should be active
  • Optionally use the fast set to Repeat Monday's start and end time across the entire week or use one of the standard times listed.
  • For those with limited licenses, if the hours you specified exceed your licensed playback time limit, a warning will appear with an estimate of when your signage will stop playing.

The First Week of a New Screen

If you purchased a new screen for your digital signage, regardless of which StrandVision Digital Signage package, it is important that you:

  • Set the business hours to no more than 10 hours per day.
  • Leave the screen on so that the night mode can flex the screen pixels.
  • Do not use the split screen mode.
  • Set the Full Screen mode on several content pages.

After the first 100 hours, you can adjust the system as you like.
