Is it a digital sign or art? Maybe both.
Okay we’re just a few days into the new year and I’ve already run into an innovation (from last year) that points in a new direction. The Lincoln Center in NYC has a new outdoor artwork called “Solar Reserve” by John Gerrard. It’s a 28 X 24-foot kinetic LED wall that was created using a video gaming engine. It’s worth taking a look at it.
From my standpoint the interesting thing is that nowhere, except in DigitalSignageToday.com is it referred to as a digital sign. All of the other places I checked simply consider it a newer form of art – visual technology.
Here’s a Wall Street Journal article that describes the display.
