Eau Claire firm is a finalist for contest

Online-Kiosks.net, a local Internet-based company that specializes in providing a messaging system that allows companies to deliver information and marketing messages to customers and employees, is on of 20 finalists in the second annual Governor's Business Plan Contest.

The fledgling company, which was founded by Mike Strand, former owner of StrandWare, 1529 Continental Dr., Eau Claire, supports businesses such as financial institutions, service centers, grocery stores, medical facilities, hotels and health clubs. The service reaches customers where they are most likely to buy: A waiting room or lobby. The service also presents opportunities for businesses who wish to cross-sell customer through sponsored advertising from its vendors.

Online-Kiosks.net was one of 49 semi-finalists that were selected by a panel of independent judges organized by the Wisconsin Technology Council. The remaining 20 contestants are competing for a chance to win $100,000 in prize money and "in-kind" services.

Three months ago, more than 200 business plans were submitted from 138 individuals representing 54 Wisconsin communities.
