Since StrandVision Digital Signage is an internet driven digital signage software system, there are very few requirements
for the StrandVision Digital Signage solution. The minimum digital signage player and digital media player hardware requirements are:
- For non-animated pages, a Windows or Linux/Unix computer system capable of running a web browser and flash (Pentium III
1.2Ghz or higher with 512MB Ram)
- For scrolling text, flash animation or video playback, a Windows computer system with more than
- Windows 7 or 10 (Home or Pro)
or use StrandVision's pre-built Linux Digital Signage PC
- 2Ghz or faster dual core Intel or AMD processor
or 3.2Ghz single core processor
- 2GB Ram
- 40GB hard drive
- nVidia or ATI VGA, DVI, HDMI or DisplayPort display adapter with 128MB or more RAM, DirectX 9 compatible
- A high definition (not enhanced definition) 4:3 or 16:9 aspect screen with VGA or DVI port (1024 x 768 or 1366 x 768 or higher native resolution)
- VGA, DVI or HDMI cable long enough to reach the screen without splicing (up to 30 feet) - call us about our High Definition PC Transmitter product if your pc is further than 10 feet from the screen or if you have multiple screens.
- Wireless mouse and keyboard if the computer is not in line of site of the screen
- Broadband DSL or cable Internet connection - connected 24 hours a day
- Wired network connection to Internet (Wireless can be used, but not recommended unless quality is consistent)
- A sound card if using audio
- A web browser that supports Javascript and Flash (Internet Explorer 11
or Firefox or Chrome) for the digital signage software component
- A computer screen or wide screen tv with computer input (most basic requirement is a computer monitor)
Although a direct or digital video connection is recommended for overall quality from your digital media player, some more complex systems where adding network cabling is difficult, the signage content is broadcast to many locations in
your facility using existing tv cable. Note that most video cards do not use the full television real estate and offer very poor resolution. If at all possible use our pc-2-tv.net high definition video transmitter product using normal Cat5 or Cat6 network cabling. If you decide to use television cable after all of these negatives, additional installation requirements are:
- A VGA to SVID or RCA connector television converter (some monitor cards
have this built in)
- A way to convert audio and SVID/RCA television signals to cable television
signals (low cost VCR's used to work well for channel 3 or 4 if you can find one)
- Televisions installed at all viewing locations
- Coaxial cable wired from the distribution point to each television
