Know the statistics before you smoke

Smoking is directly responsible for a third of all cancer related deaths.

People face more than just lung cancer when they smoke. Related cancers include mouth (teeth, gums, and throat), pancreas, kidneys, and more, as well as heart disease.

Secondhand smoke is also a big concern. It causes cancer and thousands of deaths of non-smokers every year.

Mosquitoes: more than just pests

Mosquitoes can be annoying…as well as deadly. Protect yourself!

Mosquitoes are capable of causing many diseases, including West Nile Virus and Malaria. While the majority of mosquito bites do not result in these diseases, they are still something to be concerned about.

Mosquito bites can be difficult to prevent. The best way to protect yourself is to use bug repellent with 30% DEET.

Mosquitoes reside in areas with standing bodies of water, so be careful of these areas, especially at dawn and dusk when mosquitoes feed the most.

Vision is Important

Commit to scheduling regular eye check-ups

Eye exams can help detect problems such as glaucoma, cataracts, general deterioration of eyesight quality, and many more eye problems.

People should get their eye checked at least every two years and annually after age 60.

Some things that are measured in an eye exam include depth perception, eye muscle movement, pupil reactions, and visual acuity.
