The icon who represented millions

Martin Luther King, Jr. was the chief spokesman for nonviolent activism in the Civil Rights Movement, which successfully protested racial discrimination in federal and state law.

His success with peaceful protest methods sent a long-lasting message that African Americans deserve equality as much as anyone else does.

King was assassinated in 1968. He is honored on the third Monday of January every year, which is close to his birthday.

LGBT

Awareness for a unique community

LGBT stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender, and is a group of support and acknowledgement for those people.

No one deserves judgment or different treatment based on what their sexual orientation is.

We celebrate these people in June in rememberance of the 1969 Stonewall riots, a series of demonstrations by members of the gay community.

National Disability Employment Awareness Month

The disabled must work too!

It is important that disabled people maintain employment and a good work ethic.

This month, we are rminded that many adults with disabilities are currently unemployed or underemployed and how that should change.

The disabled can be as qualified as anyone else in the job market, and we need to recognize and embrace that.
